SURL Study Shows 83% People Are Satisfied With iPad
Dec 23, 2011 News
Despite the increasing number of offerings from the rivalries, Apple has managed to maintain a significant lead in the Tablet PC space. Market research firm IDC reports that Apple’s share of global market in the third quarter was estimated to be 61.5%. Another study by Software Usability Research Laboratory (SURL) shows Apple iPad continues to satisfy its customers.
According to the study (SURL’s study used a small sample set of 52 respondents), 83.65% were satisfied with the iPad. The survey also asked to rate the user-friendliness of the device — 62% rated the iPad as “Excellent”, 21% rated as “Good”, 10% as “Best Imaginable”, 4% as “Fair”, 2% as “Poor”.
According to the respondents, the popularity of iPad was because of the variety of apps, the large screen size and portability. What people liked least was the poor quality of some apps, the inability to play Adobe Flash, and problems typing with the keyboard.
SURL stated that Apple actually listens to its customers. Participants from the original study mentioned that lack of camera and the ability to do multitasking is one of the drawbacks of the tablet PC. Apple introduced cameras in iPad 2 and the multitasking feature was introduced for both ipad and ipad 2.

Twin iPad 2s Make Spooky Halloween Costume
Oct 31, 2011 News
NASA thinks of something that no one else can think of…and this Halloween will taste a little innovation from NASA.
NASA engineer Mark Rober created a Halloween costume that makes it look like he’s had a giant hole blown clean through his torso. He used some red sauce and two iPads 2 to pretend to have a bloody wound through the core of the torso.
According to Mark Rober, it was simple and easy. Tearing a hole in your sweatshirt and then placing an iPad 2 in front and behind and finally starting a Face Time chat between the two.
“I went to a Halloween party tonight and had tried out my costume idea of using 2 iPads with a FaceTime chat to make it look like I had a huge hole in my stomach,” said Rober, a mechanical engineer who works for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, in an e-mail to Wired.com. (Source: Wired.com)
Adieu Steve Jobs! (1955-2011)
Oct 7, 2011 News
“People don’t know what they want, until you show it to them.”
Steven Paul Jobs (1955-2011) at 56 died on Wednesday at his home. The co-founder of one of the most successful technology company, Apple, was a creative genius, which the world has lost. It has been rightly said in the official Apple statement “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being.”
His accomplishments were unmatched. His 56 year life gave us six technological breakthroughs: The Apple II, the Macintosh, the movie studio Pixar, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. Had he lived a natural lifespan, there would have almost certainly been more.
The reason of his death was pancreatic cancer. In 2003, Jobs discovered he had a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare but operable form of pancreatic cancer. In 2004, he had a successful surgery to remove the pancreatic tumor. But, in subsequent years Jobs disclosed little about his health and finally On October 5, 2011 Steve Jobs left us for the heavens.
May His Soul Rest In Peace.

Jul 1, 2011 iPad development, News
Bravo!! It is now six figures for iPad. Apple App Store is showing 100,000 apps specially for iPad. An achievement of a kind in just 15 months, since the tablet went on sale. “That’s a record: it took Apple more than 16 months to put together 100,000 iPhone apps,” noted Cult of Mac.
To be more precise, the platform has been out for 453 days, with developers getting access to its software development kit in January 2010. At Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the company announced that it had 90,000 iPad apps, but it appears that number has grown in less than a month’s time.
Apple is already in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the “Most Popular Application Marketplace.” However, Apple has yet to confirm the latest count.

According to close associates of Apple, the new iPhone would come with iOS 5, the OS the iPad 2 is using now and would be called iPhone 5.
“Apple is also testing a new version of the iPad that has a higher resolution screen, similar to the one now used in the iPhone 4,” the Bloomberg report cited sources as saying.
