US Open Bans iPads because they think it is used to detonate things
Sep 9, 2010 ipad problems, News
Just a week ago, the US Open’s cool new app was discovered that let users watch all the matches and get up-to-the-minute scores on their iPad. But we’ve found there’s one little problem—you’re not allowed to take your iPad to the actual matches.
Visitors to Arthur Ashe Stadium for the US Open tennis matches get a nasty surprise—they can’t take their iPads inside. Even more surprising was the reason a security worker gave for the ban: “They’re using iPads to detonate things.”?Huh? Then why are they allowed on planes?
No official statement on this policy has come from US Open officials. Still allowed are iPhones, and there’s even an app that helps you find the quickest bathroom lines. Maybe US Open security thinks they’re too small to “detonate things.”

VLC coming soon to iPad

Video fans love the iPad but there has been some grumbling from video aficionados about the limited video formats supported on Apple’s “magical device”. Video fans can now rejoice because the iPad could be getting a powerful new video app as early as next week.
Remember the open source video player VLC ? Applidium announced today that after several months of work, they have submitted an iPad version of the popular VLC video player to Apple for review. The app is a port of the main version of the VLC player so users will get the same powerful features they’re already accustomed to using on their PC or Mac. According to a recent tweet, the UI is based on VLC Kit and has been updated with a clean and simple design specifically for the iPad.
If VLC makes it through Apple’s review process, which is by no means guaranteed, iPad users will have a powerful new video tool capable of playing back video in a wide variety of formats. Applidium expects the app to be approved next week.
The app will be available for free once approved and it’s being released as an Open Source project so other developers will be able to leverage VLC code in their projects.

Apple App Store Adds Hardcore Games to App Store Essentials
Sep 8, 2010 News

While Microsoft is trying to save face with their upcoming launch of Kinect, and how it relates to hardcore gamers out there, Apple is apparently vying to make their name known amidst the crowd. Sure, their titles are far more “mobile” than, say, Microsoft’s, but that doesn’t make the gamers any less hardcore. Today, Apple officially unveiled their new “Hardcore Games” section within App Store Essentials. And, as you can tell from the picture above, it’s pretty hardcore.
Titles you’ll find in there range, but you should find some familiar ones like Space Invaders Infinity Gene, Chaos Rings, and Archetype. The prices don’t seem to have changed much, though. Any hardcore gamers out there feel like this section was absolutely needed to get your favorite games their own showcase area?
And even the iPhone app developers are focusing to keep the prices as low as possible on the App Store encouraging gamers to buy more games from there . While we have also seen in the past that the price factor has also played a major role in the gaming industry lets hope we get to see the same spirit with the Microsoft guys .

New iPad with Camera or the Old iPad with New Accessories?
Sep 6, 2010 News
As of now iPad is without a video camera. But that’s not going to stay for long!!!
The new iPod touch 4G now too has cameras and the supports required for the FaceTime video conferencing technology. And iPhone 4G is well equipped with all the possible communication technologies for Apple.
In front of these, the current iPad appears to be crawling. So the big question that is being discussed in the iPad app development industry is: what is Apple going to do now with iPad?
For your kind information, the new iOS 4.2 upgrade which will be available for the iPad in November 2010, will be launching all the features you enjoy today on your iPhone 4 and some more. 9 to 5 Mac has reported that the new iPad is under the testing of its FaceTime technology.
We believe, like many other iPad developers, that Apple is all set to release a new iPad in November which will feature two cameras. Moreover most of the Android Tablets in the market are equipped with cameras. How can Apple afford to stay behind!!!
An iPad 2G with cameras would definitely help them to survive the competition from Android. Besides that, a video calling facility on an iPad would really look cool. At the same time it will make the iPad more useful in the enterprise market.
Now if you already own an iPad, there is a probability that you get to buy the accessories for a camera for your favorite device. Though that will be little less sleak than the integrated cams, your device will be all ready for all the latest features.
